Module 8: Figure osteoclast differentiation

Control of osteoclastogenesis.

A number of signalling pathways co-operate to activate the gene transcriptional events responsible for controlling osteoclastogenesis. A simplified version of the main events that occur during osteoclastogenesis is shown in Module 8: Figure osteoclastogenesis. The different signalling pathways function to control apoptosis, proliferation and the differentiation of the precursor cells into the mature osteoclasts responsible for bone resorption.
