Control of endothelial permeability by contraction of actomyosin.
Opening of the endothelial permeability barrier is regulated by contraction of the actomyosin filaments making up the cytoskeletal network. One of the major inflammatory stimuli is thrombin, which seems to act through both Ca2+ and RhoA. Details of these two pathways are described in the text.
