Module 7: Figure Ca2+-dependent ICC oscillations
ICC Ca2+ oscillations depend on the entry of external Ca2+.
A. Spontaneous Ca2+ oscillations of rabbit urethral interstitial cells of Cajal (ICC) are accelerated by an elevation of external Ca2+ from 2.5 to 5 mM. B. A decrease in external [Ca2+] from 2.5mM to a nominally Ca2+-free solution resulted in a cessation of oscillatory activity. Note the changes in the baseline (resting level of Ca2+) that occurs during the changes in oscillation frequency. Reproduced from Hashitani and Suzuki (2007).
