Module 2: Figure NAD-dependent signalling pathways
NAD-dependent signalling pathways.
The NAD+/NADH redox couple is at the hub of an extensive signalling system. It is an essentional component of the post-translational protein modification reactions of deacylation and ribosylation. It is also an essential precursor for a number of second messengers that regulate Ca2+ signalling by stimulating entry across the plasma membrane by TRPM2 channels, release of Ca2+ from the endoplasmic reticulum or the acidic stores.
