Cell stimuli that act through the cyclic AMP signalling pathway.

A large number of neurotransmitters and hormones act through G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) to engage the cyclic AMP signalling pathway. The GPCR acts through a heterotrimeric G protein, which has α and βγ subunits, to stimulate the amplifier adenylyl cyclase (AC) to generate the second messenger cyclic AMP.
